Cinema broadcast Tops UK chart

Our LIVE CINEMA BROADCAST - for Amnesty UK  took more than £600,000 at the UK box office. The production, at the Playhouse Theatre on September 17, was broadcast to more than 600 cinemas across the UK and Europe.

In the UK, it beat Legend and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials to take the top spot at the box office.

Marc Allenby, from distributor Picturehouse Entertainment, said the response of audiences had been “phenomenal”.

He added that Picturehouse was looking to work with Ambassador Theatre Group, which produced the stage show, on “further collaborations in the future”.

The live screening of a special gala performance featured guest appearances from Mel Giedroyc, Ade Edmonson, Anthony Head, Emma Bunton and Stephen Fry who starred alongside creatoe Richard O'Brien.
